Black Butte Ranch + Winter Fun in Central Oregon

My family and a group of friends had a blast staying at Black Butte Ranch in Sisters a few winters back. Hoodoo Ski Area (shown in the second image) is less than 20 minutes away, and you can snowshoe and cross-country ski for free at the ranch or in many pristine nearby areas, or rent equipment at the ranch if you need it.

The hottubs, pool, rooms, and food at Black Butte Ranch are all wonderful, too, and they have special events and activities depending on when you visit, such as horse-drawn carriage rides through the holidays. Or you take a ride on one of the beautiful, sweet horses over the stunning terrain. But at the very least you should at the very least stop into the stables to stay a hello--they're open year-round.

This is one of our favorite places in Oregon to visit, because you're surrounded by spectacular scenery and nature, and yet it's so comfortable, so it can be even more relaxing than camping. This is especially true in the winter, of course, when the nighttime temps in Central Oregon could take the fun out of sleeping in a tent!

A nice thing about visiting this time of year is that can more affordable for luxury accommodations in a magical setting, too--just $135/night for a premium room in the lodge when I checked today, but click the "Learn More" button for the latest rates.

I hope you have as wonderful a trip as we did, and feel free to add questions or comments below!

Wow, the scenery is extraordinary - and I love the view from your window there - just gorgeous, Rick!

Thx, Donna! The crazy thing is it's even more spectacular in real life...the pics don't quite capture all the mountains, wildlife, and everything. Hope we can get back there soon!
