Learn the story of Pacific Northwest railroads through exhibits and events, guided interpretation and presentations at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center.
Opening its doors in 2012, the Heritage Center is a place where locomotive aficionados can unite. The centerpieces of ORHC's collection are the three steam locomotives: Southern Pacific 4449, Spokane, Portland & Seattle 700, and Oregon Railroad & Navigation Co. 197.
Volunteers with railroad background give full tours of the engines, and rotating exhibits educate visitors about the state’s transit past.
The Heritage Center's regular hours are Thursday and Friday, 1pm to 5pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 12pm to 5pm, but they'll have extended hours during Spring Break - Monday, March 25th through Friday, March 29th from 1pm to 5pm.
Admission is free, although donations are welcome. For more information, and for a schedule of specific events – including an annual Holiday Express exclusion trip – check out the official site: http://www.orhf.org/
