Would you like to have an unforgettable adventure and support a quality cause at the same time? Kerr Bike Rentals on Portland’s Tom McCall Waterfront Park provides bike rental for a jaunt around the Willamette River, and the business supports Albertina Kerr, an Oregon not-for-profit which has provided programs to children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges since 1907.
Albertina Kerr is dedicated to empowering the individuals that they serve, fostering equality and diversity. The organization also provides rewarding jobs to their clients. And this is no ordinary bike rental! In addition to providing hourly rentals of adult bikes ($10/hour, $25/half day, $35/day), kid’s bikes ($7/hour, $16/half day, $25/day) and tandem bikes ($15/hour, $35/half day, $45/day), there are also two person “surreys” complete with a fringe on top ($25/hour) and four person “surreys” ($35/hour).
Needless to say, the two tops would be ideal for a creative and romantic date idea, and the four tops are perfect for a family outing. Ask about other rigs, like the Deuce Coupes, Choppers and Quad Sports. Warning – as you peddle along in your unique vehicle, passersby will be intrigued and a little envious!
As you journey North along Tom McCall Waterfront Park from SW Naito Parkway and Salmon Street, you will pass by the Portland Spirit cruise ship (wave “Hi”!), then you will see the Oregon Maritime Museum (it’s a museum about our maritime history that is actually on a boat), the site of Portland Saturday Market (a craft market that is open Saturdays and Sundays) and the Japanese Historical Plaza.
If you head South from Kerr Bike Rental, you will encounter the lovely South Waterfront, where boats are docked, and there are a variety of boutique shops, as well as Three Degrees restaurant, Thirst Wine Bar and Bistro and McCormick and Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant. You might also catch a glimpse of kayak tours and the Dragon Boat racers (especially during the Rose Festival in June).
In addition to the amazing bike rentals, Kerr Bikes offers a free bike repair station located on the outside of the bike rental shop, complete with a bike lift, tools and tire pumps.
Bike repair is open during Kerr Bikes’ regular business hours. Speaking of which ... May – June Kerr Bikes is open for business 9:00 am – 7:00 pm on weekdays, and 8:00 am – 7:00 pm on weekends. July – August they will expand their hours to 8:00 am – 8:00 pm on weekdays and 8:00 am – 9:00 pm on weekends. Get ready for an adventure!
A second location is available on the East side of the Willamette River at OMSI:

8 years agoLove this place by the river and it's awesome that it supports such a great cause. They've helped me out before with help on my own bike, too, and didn't even charge me. Wonderful folks in the perfect location!
