It’s finally here – the long-awaited Pine Street Market. Portlanders have really been desiring our own open floor plan food market in which to show off all of our best chefs and restauranteurs. The lovely communal seating market is located at SW 2nd and Pine in the historic Baggage and Carriage Building, which was built in 1886 and has most recently housed a variety of dance clubs before being converted into the much-anticipated dining hall.
The culinary options are exciting! Brass Bar, from the owners of Barista, a favorite local coffee house, offers tea and their own proprietary roast of coffee. Common Law is a partnership between Paley’s Place Executive Chef Patrick McKee and Langbaan Chef Earl Ninsom with a French and Asian influenced menu. Marukin Ramen, a Tokyo favorite since 1994, has finally hit the Portland dining scene (one of the first US locations!). OP Wurst from beloved PDX meat purveyors Olympia Provisions are serving dogs you can eat with both hands or a knife and fork accompanied by a cold beer, or perhaps a glass of wine or champagne. Pollo Bravo is a tapas bar from the owners of four Portland faves - Toro Bravo, Tasty n Sons, Tasty n Alder and Mediterranean Exploration Company. Ask about the Spanish-style Rotisserie Chicken to go! Shalom Y’all presents Israeli street food (including the morning meal), as well as a fantastic bar program featuring American whiskey and Israeli beer. Trifecta Annex showcases James Beard-winning author and baker Ken Forkish’s croissants and breads from sister bakery Trifecta Tavern, as well as daily toasts and pizza – whole or by the slice. Last but not least, Salt & Straw’s Wiz Bang Bar is serving up the soft serve dipped in magic shell that you loved from childhood, but made with Pacific Northwest ingredients – try the Woodblock Chocolate soft serve on a waffle cone with Oregon Black Raspberry Shell!). You will have to visit Pine Street Market many times to try them all!
