Angels Rest Trail is one of my favorite hikes. It's about 4.5 miles out and back located near Cascade Locks. The view from the top is magnificent and worth the 1,220-foot elevation gain hike! If you want a slight challenge with a great reward, then this is the hike for you.
Hiking Level = Moderate
Terrain = Slippery when wet with sharp rocks
Time for a moderate hiker = 1 hour up, 35 minutes down
Dog accessible = Yes

Angel's Rest is one of our favorite hikes in the Columbia River Gorge, for sure!

9 years agoAnother thing that's great about Angel's Rest and the other nearby hikes is how quick and easy they are to get to.
Directions for folks coming from Portland or other places to the west:
- Take I-84 to exit 28, Bridal Veil/Historic Columbia River Hwy
- Trailhead is south of the Historic Columbia River Highway, opposite the junction with the interstate access road in Bridal veil.
Directions from the east:
- Take I-84 to take exit 35, Ainsworth State Park
- Follow the beautiful Historic Columbia River Highway for 7.1 miles (11.4 km)
Or you could just hire one of the friendly tour guides on the site to take you there and show you around the rest of the amazingly scenic Gorge. :)
